Revlon Tahitian Coast & Mayan Riviera

Howdie!  Oops, I missed posting yesterday!  Just for that I will show you 2 polishes in one post 😉  I’m also doing this because I can’t stand these polishes and they are no longer in my collection because of it, but thought I would share anyways because someone out there might like them.

Mayan Riviera

Both pictures are 2 coats of each polish.  All I can say about the formula, application AND removal of these polishes is “GROSS!”  The formula is thick and gloopy and it gets worse as you are polishing, like instant thickening and drying.  And removal, wow!  I even tried the foil method (with my Julep Party’s Over Glitter Removal caps) and the polish did NOT want to come off.  The, after scrubbing the glitters (after sitting with the caps on for 10 minutes), there was glitter everywhere.  *sigh*  I guess I shouldn’t have had high hopes for these since they are basically a mix of different sized glitters in slightly tinted bases, and they are “drugstore” brand, which I don’t normally have an issue with.  If you like textures similar to Zoya Pixies or Julie G Gumdrops, these are definitely not for you.  The texture of these is SUPER gritty, they catch on everything and I have an all around dislike for them.  They are much prettier in the bottles on the store shelf, and that’s where they should stay if you want my honest opinion.

I did wonder about Mayan Riveria and a glitter gradient with it, so I tried it out over 2 colours (no top coat) – Sinful Colors Exotic Green (left) and Julep Laura (right).  They definitely look much better like this, but because they are so gloopy, I think application would be a pain in the butt to have it look right on all 10 nails.

Sorry Revlon, this collection is a major fail for me 😦  What do you guys think?  I can’t be bothered to keep these in my collection because I know I will NEVER use them again, and I don’t want to burden someone else with them, so these are headed into the garbage 😥  RIP polishes.

Julie G Silver Bells

Morning, morning!  And Happy Monday!!  Tyler and I went shopping on Saturday and the stores are being filled with Christmas decorations and all things red and green!  YAHOO!!!!  59 more sleeps!!

Today I have another texture for you – there is an end in sight for these, I promise 😉

IMG_20140906_184651

This is 2 coats of Silver Bells.  I really like this one and I think it would be a cool look to include in this mani style just to give it something a little extra.  This is a perfect silver sandpaper-like texture that isn’t super gritty and doesn’t catch on anything.  That is one thing I love the most about the Julie G Gumdrop polishes.  Now I just need them to make some pastel coloured ones and I would be happy-happy 😀

Julie G Blueberry Fizz

Hello lovely readers! I missed posting yesterday. My day went to hell in a hand basket just after 8am and it didn’t stop until I got home, at which time I was too flustered and frustrated to do anything other than eat dinner and hold the couch down until bedtime.

I have another texture for you today – Julie G Blueberry Fizz from the original Gumdrops collection.

IMG_20140905_100903

This is 2 coats of Blueberry Fizz, it could have used a 3rd coat though.  I’m still not too sure about this polish.  Again, with the hex glitters in it, I think that’s what turns me off the most.  The colour is OK, but maybe it doesn’t work with my skintone and that’s why I’m not over the moon for it.  I am terrible at deciding if something works or doesn’t work with my skintone.  I think this would be a great colour to pair with a wintery mani.

Zoya Chita

Morning, morning!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Tyler and I went to a Barrie Colts hockey game with his friend and his friend’s younger brother on Saturday night.  It was Tyler’s first in-person hockey game (*gasp!!*) so it was fun for him, and it was nice to go out and do something.  We don’t usually do much on weekends, so it was a nice change.

Today I have Zoya Chita for you.  Every time I think of this name in my head I say it like “cheetah” – is it that way or “Chih-tah”?  Anyone know?  That’s today’s conundrum 😉  This was another polish I did for Two Weeks of Textures.

IMG_20140904_110614

I love Pixies!  This is 2 easy coats of Chita, I have to say, of all the textures out there, Zoyas are definitely the best – the original Pixies that is.  Now they have the Magical Pixies, which I like but not as much as the originals, and I haven’t tried the new Ultra Pixies but I know I won’t like them because of the larger glitters in them so I’m not bothering to get them.  This polish looks a lot like Julie G Mistletoe, so I will have to remember *makes mental note* to do a comparison of them – maybe in December 🙂

China Glaze Shell We Dance

Happy Friday all!  I’m going to try to work on swataching today – we’ll see how far I get 🙂

I have another texture for you today – China Glaze Shell We Dance from the Sea Goddess collection.

IMG_20140903_085103

This colour is more my speed.  This is 2 coats of Shell We Dance, it’s a really pretty medium pink with lots of shimmer throughout.  The formula of this polish is better than Teal the Tide Turns and Sand Dolla Make You Holla.

China Glaze Teal the Tide Turns

Morning, morning!  It’s Thursday, that means I’m sleeping in tomorrow and there’s nothin’ anyone can do to change my mind!

Today, I have a swatch of China Glaze Teal the Tide Turns from the Sea Goddess collection they released in the Spring.

IMG_20140902_082122

This is 2 coats of Teal the Tide Turns, and I would recommend doing 3 if I were to wear it again.  (And sorry, the ring nail must have had a thicker coat of polish because it looks more opaque than the other nails.)  This is not my favourite from the collection.  I prefer my textures sparkly, like the Julie G Gumdrops or the Zoya Pixie Dusts (original version).  This was a little tricky to work with, the formula was thick but watery at the same time.. if that makes any sense whatsoever.  This is a teal base with a darker teal matte glitter throughout.  I dunno, something about this one just isn’t speaking to me.  I bought this with the rest of the Sea Goddess collection from Nail Polish Canada – my source for everything mainstream 🙂

Julep Cameron

Morning lovelies!  Is it hometime yet?  It’s just one of those days where I want to stay in bed snuggled up with my puppydogs cause it’s so miserable outside.

Today I have a swatch from my first day of “Two Weeks of Textures” I did back at the beginning of September – Julep Cameron.

IMG_20140901_114821

This is 2 coats of Cameron, a grey-toned lilac purple Stardust texture with some larger hex glitters.  This is a polish I am not too sure about.  I don’t know if it is the colour, or the texture of it.  If you’ve been around for a while you will know that I LOVE texture polishes, but there is just something about the textures with the larger glitters in them that does not appeal to me.  I’m still on the fence with this one, even a month later.  This can be purchased through Julep’s online store.

Ellagee It’s A Gas Gas Gas

Good morning readers!!  It’s a beautiful day here in South-Central Ontario.  It’s actually kinda warm, considering the temperatures we have had in the last week and a half!  AND Tyler is done harvest at work, so that means I get to see my new husband (hehe!) for more than a couple hours every night, including weekends.  They finished up late on Sunday and he was off with me yesterday.  We enjoyed the day together snuggled on the couch watching TV in our jammies all day.  That’s my kinda day!

I have the last polish I posted on Instagram for Indie Month August – Ellagee It’s A Gas Gas Gas.

IMG_20140829_172216

This is 2 easy coats of It’s A Gas Gas Gas.  I got this polish in the Easter Mystery Box that Laura did earlier this year.  I think this is a favourite for me.  The colour is beautiful, and while the gold glitters all stick to the bottom of the bottle and didn’t really transfer to the nail, I don’t really mind.  I will have to see if I can get them dug out for when I use it next time.  I just checked and the polish is still available in her online shop.  Her swatch picture in the listing is quite a bit lighter than the colour of my actual bottle of polish.  Make sure to follow her on Facebook and Instagram too!

Different Dimension Horde

Happy Monday all!  I’m chilling in my jammies, drinking a cup of tea, and watching Once Upon a Time.  It’s quickly become one of my new favourite shows because I love all things Disney and fairy tales.  The thing I like the most is the twist they put on the fairy tales I grew up with.

Today I have for you another swatch from Indie Month August – Different Dimension Horde.

IMG_20140829_151021

I got this polish a couple years ago, only because of the name.  Tyler plays World of Warcraft, so when I saw this, I knew I had to get it.  This polish is black jelly base with holo glitter and red and silver hex glitters.  It is very pretty, but was so hard to capture on camera.  Unfortunately this polish, and the rest of the World of Warcraft line has been discontinued, but you can check out the rest of Different Dimension’s creations on her online shop, and make sure to follow on Facebook and Instagram!

Polish Me Silly Color Me Gray

Good morning lovely readers!  It’s Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, so I will be stuffing myself with turkey and all the fixins that go with it.  Yum yum yum!

Here is a swatch of Polish Me Silly Color Me Gray that I wore for one of the last few days of “Indie Month August” that I did with Tina.  Yup, that’s how long it’s been since I have posted on here …

IMG_20140827_182703

This is 2 coats of Color Me Gray.  I’ll be honest, this is not my favourite polish.  There is something kinda .. juvenile about this … I think it’s the combination of the cement-gray base colour with the solid primary colours of the glitters, and that a top coat didn’t add much of a shine or smoothness (for me) to even everything out.  Polish Me Silly polishes can be purchased in their online shop, and you can follow them on Facebook and Instagram!
