10 Day Challenge — Day 4

Morning everyone!  I am so impressed with all the entries for the Challenge so far! 😀

Here are the entries for Day 4 of the Challenge, Seran Wrap Nails.  This seems to be a first for a lot of the participants 🙂  Good!  I want people to go out of their comfort zone, and this was an easy way to start 😉

There are two different ways to achieve the Seran Wrap Nail technique.

  1. Paint your nail your base colour.  When your base colour is completely dry, paint over with your second colour and while it is still wet use a scrunched up piece of seran wrap to sponge the top colour off so the base colour will show through.  Repeat for as many colours as you want.  Or,
  2. Paint your nail your base colour.  When your base colour is completely dry, put a couple drops of your second colour onto a piece of foil or plate.  Using a scrunched up piece of seran wrap, dab it into the drops of polish, dab on the foil/plate to remove excess (but not too much) and dab onto the nail.  Repeat with as many colours as you want.

I personally prefer the 2nd method (“sponge-on”) as I feel I have more control of where my top colours go and how much of it shows.  I have not tried the 1st method (“sponge-off”), I will have to give it a go one of these days 🙂

Onto the entries!

Erica’s Nails and More Day 4 entry:
I love seran wrap nails. I do it a little different from everyone else though – I use the sponge-on method. Paint your nails your base colour. Put a couple drops of your other colour(s) onto a piece of foil or plate and dab seran into the polish and onto the nail. I love the marble effect it gives 🙂 I used Revlon Top Speed Fire as my base colour and Julep Felicity and Harley as my sponged colours. I love the colour combination of this 🙂

Pure Ice Superstar and Sally Hansen Emerald City.

dreamyMM Nails and Make Up Day 4 entry:
Seran Wrap is something I have never done before…
Thought it would look better if I had opposite colours so made both hands in contrast… one hand blue one silver…To emphasize it a bit more, I did my thumbs different and added some big gems.
I used: my favourite Blue… “Collection 2000 Lasting Colour, No.12 Blue my Mind” and a glittery Silver polish…

Erin Fleming Day 4 entry:
Saran Wrap! I went for a subtle look using Zoya Quinn and China Glaze Swing Baby. For some reason it reminds me of crushed velvet?
Blog

Lustrous Lacquer Day 4 entry:
Base color is ULTA Beauty Gold tippd Rose. Top Color is Jordana Cosmetics Cabaret. Plus a coat of SV.
Facebook

Muffin Nails Day 4 entry:
My saran wrap mani! Orange and pink is without a doubt my favorite color combination, so it wasn’t hard for me to choose my colors for this design. The pink is Sinful Colors Boom Boom and the orange is Sally Hansen Sun-Kissed. If I did this again I might use the orange as the base color on all of the nails, but other than that I think it turned out pretty well!

Painted Nubbs Day 4 entry:
My very first saran wrap mani…and needless to say it didn’t turn out that good. I followed the directions from a tutorial, but it still looks like I did it wrong lol
I used China Glaze For Audrey as the base and then applied China Glaze Lemon Fizz over that and dabbed it off.

Blog / Facebook

FingerFood Nails day 4 entry:
I managed to get over the trauma of taking off my autumn nails for day 4! Here are my saran wrap nails – I used Barry M Raspberry over Models Own Snow White. Apologies to everyone for the state of my nails – the tips are breaking as they grow out as a result of wearing false nails about a month ago and they’re all uneven… :s
Blog / Facebook

Sandra Bickel Day 4 entry:
After testing several colors for opacity, this two just seemed to work best. I used the dob-off method rather than the dob-on method…at lot less messy. My son loves it! Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby and Envy (overlay).
Blog

Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Lacquer Day 4 entry:
I used Julep Jessica as the base and used the sponge-on method to apply the silver, LA Colors Live.
Blog / Facebook

See Jodi Polish Day 4 entry:
This was done with Julep’s Leah as a base, 2 coats for opaqueness and then CHI Ceramic Nail Lacquer in Subway to Wall Street, a concrete grey creme color, was brushed on and a scrunched up ball of saran wrap was used in a dabbing method to remove some of the grey so the green shows through. I love how it looks marbelized (yup, that’s a new word I just created 🙂 )
Blog / Facebook

Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 4 entry:
I used OPI Pepe’s Purple Passion as the base, Pink Friday for the “sponged on” part, and ORLY 54 for a little shimmer. I also did a blog post of the first five days of the challenge, because I won’t be around tomorrow (Leave for work at 6:45, get home from school at 11!).
Blog / Facebook

Amber Nolan Day 4 entry:
Turns out I’m not very good at the saran wrap manicures! Haha. I used Butter London’s Branwen’s Feather and for the top color I used Sinful Colors Gorgeous.

No Naked Nails Day 4 entry:
This is the first time I have ever done this one and I have to say, I don’t know why I waited so long! This was sooo crazy easy! I used Spoiled’s I Don’t Drink Cheap Wine and WnW’s Metallica. Again, if you haven’t tried this, you must! you will be shocked at how easy it is to create such a ‘Wow’ effect on your nails. Thanks to Erica for ‘forcing’ me to do these things I’ve never tried. 🙂

10 Day Challenge — Day 3

Well we are a 1/3 of the way through the Challenge.  I hope everyone is enjoying it so far!  Spectators, what do you guys think of all the designs so far?
Here are all the Day 3 entries.  The theme is Favourite Season.  This can be either the 4 natural seasons or holidays, as I consider those to be seasons as well (Christmas season is from the end of October until the end of December here in Canada — as soon as Hallowe’en is over the stores are FILLED with Christmas goodies!).
Erica’s Nails and More Day 3 entry:
I looooooove winter! I love it simply because I love snow and hate the heat of summertime. But I don’t do any winter sports (skiing, skating, etc.) because I’m not a very coordinated person.  I like downhill skiing, but for me it’s more like downhill tumbling 😉
I used Julep Jessica for the base colour and L’Oréal I Will!, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City and Jordana Black for the snowflakes and snowmen.
Blog (you’re here!) / Facebook

April Boulware Day 3 entry:
Hallowe’en – white is Pure Ice Superstar. The black is Tip Top Black Forest. Gray is Zoya Dove. Yellowish range is LA Colors Shock. The darker orange is Zoya Arizona and the red is LA Colors Hot Blooded.

dreamyMM Nails and Make Up Day 3 entry:
My favourite Season is BOO… Halloween *giggles*
For the entire design I used (as usual) acrylic paint colours and thin brushes…
Base coat :NYC In A New York Color Minute, Lexington Yellow No.294.
and I’ve done the Gradient Effect with Orange and Gold Acrylic paint, worked with a tiny piece of sponge over the yellow base.

Erin Fleming Day 3 entry:
My favourite season is fall. I used OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby with an accent nail using Zoya Elisa and China Glaze Electrify.
Blog

Lustrous Lacquer Day 3 entry:
For me this was an easy decision. Ive always loved the fall colors and a bonus, my birthday is in the fall. I decided to spong on some colors that reminded me of the falling leaves and then added a leaf stamp to try and pull the whole thing together. Colors used are Sinful Colors Clementine (orange) and Firefly (yellow) Essie Penny Talk (copper) and Milani Hot Orchid ( Burgandy) . Stamps are done with Milani Black sweep. Plates used are BM 04 (middle and pinky) RA-120 (pointer and ring).
Facebook

Muffin Nails Day 3 entry:
This mani was inspired by my favorite season, fall. I tried to incorporate all of the common autumn colors into the background and then the solid tree in front with its leaves gone.
I made a gradient using Sally Hansen Lightening, Sinful Colors Courtney Orange, and Sinful Colors Envy. I then painted on the tree with Essie Little Brown Dress.

Blog / Facebook

Painted Nubbs Day 3 entry:
My favorite season is actually a holiday lol… I’d have to say it’s Valentine’s Day, I love the celebration of love. And who doesn’t love a good stuffed animal, especially those giant monkeys! The red is LA Colors Hot Blooded, the white is Pure Ice Superstar and the stamps are Salon Express plates 20&21. 🙂
Blog / Facebook

FingerFood Nails Day 3 entry:
Here are my “season” nails. I went for Autumn as my fave – I used Rimmel Aqua Cool for the base with Models Own black for the trees. The leaves are OPI Rising Star and Take the Stage, with Sally Hansen Teeny Greeny Bikini and Emerald City.
Blog / Facebook

Sandra Bickel Day 3 entry:
Late spring/ early summer story.
Pinky: first flush of spring (sap is rising )
Ring: first sprouts
Middle: sky full of stars

Index: first blooms
Thumb: height of summer
I love when my nails tell a story…when I have time, I do this. I used Kleancolor – Daisy, Kiss nail art decals 2012 edition & metal enamel hearts.

Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Lacquer Day 3 entry:
My favorite season is fall, so I tried to incorporate some fall colors in this mani. I started with LA Colors Bronze as the base and then did a braided accent nail (my first!) using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color in Rapid Red and NYC Color in Plaza Plumberry.
Blog / Facebook

See Jodi Polish Day 3 entry:
My favorite season is the Christmas season, and in my house it runs from the 3rd week in November until the first week of January. My color theme is red, white and silver…this manicure represents that and the stamped star looks just like my tree topper. The Red polish is a local Hawaiian brand that I picked up in Honolulu last year called Island Girl and the name i

s Old Lahaina, and the shimmery/silvery white is CHI Ceramic Nail Lacquer’s Snow Angels in Central Park (I needed 4 coats for this color to be opaque.) I also added a red rhinestone in the center of the star.

Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 3 entry:
I wanted to go a little out of the ordinary. While my favorite season of the year is fall, my OTHER favorite season involves the only sport I love, FOOTBALL (American style). And I am a HUGE New York Giants fan, so I did my Giants pedi which I wore under my socks yesterday (when the Giants won, by the way!). OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It! and A Oui Bit of Red, China Glaze Unplugged, and Sally Hansen White On.
Blog / Facebook

Amber Nolan Day 3 entry:
My favorite season is fall and these colors really say fall to me! I used julep rachel & sienna.

No Naked Nails Day 3 entry:
I absolutely love spring! Everything is so fresh and new and everything just comes alive! I tried to incorporate some of the things I love about the season and am VERY pleased with how this came out. I used Orly’s Decades of Disfunction first then put Sinful Colors’ Cinderella over it for the sky and all the rest is just about every striping polish there is…LOL. Hope you like it, its all freehand 🙂

Samantha Dobbs Day 3 entry:
I painted a base brown sponged on red, yellow, and orange randomly. I drew the tree and stamped the leaves.

A lot of people love fall!  Looks like I’m the only one crazy enough to love winter in its entirety 😉  Christmas is my favourite holiday season, but I decided to do winter because I love nothing more than waking up to a fresh blanket of snow 😀

10 Day Challenge — Day 2

It’s Day 2 of the 10 Day Nail Art Challenge — Favourite Animal.  I was excited for this day because I knew exactly what I was going to do!  Here are all the entries:

Erica’s Nails and More Day 2 entry:
If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that polar bears are my favourite animal in the entire world, and one day I would like to have one of my own.. a real one. But until that day comes I guess these little guys will suffice 😉 I used Julep Jessica (light blue), L’Oréal I Will! and Jordana Black.
Blog (you’re here!) / Facebook

April Boulware Day 2 entry:
COW. I’m new at this this and not very good with dotting tools so I thought this would be the easiest.

dreamyMM Nails & Make Up Day 2 entry:
Animals are all lovely and unique, so I made 5 different ones.  I leave it to you to choose which one you like most *wink-wink*.  For me special one is the Tiger… (but also the parrot as I do have a few)
For the entire design I used acrylic paint colours and thin brushes…Base coat Essie BORROWED BLUE Nail Polish 746.

Blog / Facebook

Erin Fleming Day 2 entry:
Now I’ve been excited for this since I read the challenge list. Why you ask? Because it’s not animal print per se, it’s your favourite animal. My favourite animal is clearly my cat – so I used his ‘colour palette’ as inspiration for these nails.
used NOPI Razzle Dazzler, Zoya Trixie and BM 316!

Blog

Lustrous Lacquer Day 2 entry:
This is my very first attempt at doing free hand nail art. And I was in a bit of a rush to get it done on time. So please excuse the sloppyness.
Facebook

Muffin Nails Day 2 entry:
For day two, I decided to do my favorite Pokemon. It’s a Phanpy, which conveniently looks just like my favorite animal, the elephant. I used Sally Hansen – Blue Me Away!, OPI – Cajun Shrimp, and Stripe Rite Black to make the Phanpy.
Blog / Facebook

Painted Nubbs Day 2 entry:
I have loved pigs since before I can remember! This is Tip Top Pink Lady as the base, Zoya Whitney as the snout and ears, Pure Ice Superstar as the white and LA Colors Black Velvet as the black.
Blog / Facebook

FingerFood Nails Day 2 entry:
I chose pandas because I’d never done them before. I used LA Colors Black Velvet with Models Own Snow White on a base of Borghese Fantastico Lime. Added a little bamboo as I thought the rest of my nails looked a bit bare (or bear! lol).
Blog / Facebook

Sandra Bickel Day 2 entry:
Favorite animal: Horse – my favorite animal that isn’t cliche but is also not easy to represent in nail art. (was going to choose dogs but the only way I know how to draw a dog didn’t translate well to nail art)…and besides that…I’d have wanted to do poodles and, well, my talents don’t go that far yet…
Colours used: Sinful Colors Innocent & Exotic Green, Slate, Nirvana, Snow Me White, Black on Black LA COLORS Dark Brown, Julep Isla, Cover Girl Copper-cino.

Blog

Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Lacquer Day 2 entry:
It’s puppy paw prints! Although I don’t have a dog right now, dogs are my favorite animal! I decided to do paw prints (so my cat didn’t hate me too much). I used Julep Kate for the base color and LA Colors Circuits and a dotting tool for the paw prints.
Blog / Facebook

See Jodi Polish Day 2 entry:
My favorite animal is my dog Jersey, she’s a reverse brindle boxer, however, I do not have the skills to create her on my nails so I have chosen my favorite animal print. This was done with Arabella’s Raspberry ice (its a brand a local salon uses and its great)-a rust shimmer, the white is Julep’s Kate, and the leopard spots were done with Cult Nails Nevermore and Raspberry Ice.
Blog / Facebook

Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 2 entry:
My Day 2 entry is my favorite animal, owls (Yes, this is because of Harry Potter, hehehe)! I used Zoya Angelina as the brown base and China Glaze Oxidized Aqua for the wings and other fingers. The belly is L.A. Colors Atomic, the beak Zoya Paz, and the eyes Sally Hansen White On and a Sinful Colors shimmery black nail art polish. I apologize for not doing owls on all my fingers, it was getting late last night and I messed up the other fingers falling asleep, oops!
Blog / Facebook

Amber Nolan Day 2 entry:
Favorite animal! Used Mischa with black nail art polish.

No Naked Nails Day 2 entry:
My favorite is a butterfly! They are so graceful and beautiful. I love watching them. I used Wet-N-Wild ‘How I Met Your Magenta’ and a lot of striping polishes.
Blog / Facebook

Samantha Dobbs Day 2 entry:
Well since I can’t draw an otter or anything otter like I decided to go with a Bengal! Since its football Sunday I decides to kill 2 birds 🙂 I’m wearing deborah Lippmann Lara’s Theme and china glaze Mahogany Magic.

I love all these designs!  I love animals so it was interesting to see what everyone came up with 😀

10 Day Challenge — Day 1

We are off to an awesome start with the 10 Day Nail Art Challenge, I hope everyone is enjoying it so far! 😀
Here are the entries for the first day:

Erica’s Nails and More Day 1 entry:
My favourite colour is purple, and specifically Elixir Lacquers Miss Kitty’s Mee-yow. My 2nd favourite is Julep Morgan, which was bumped out of 1st by Miss Kitty 😉 I used those 2 colours as well as L’Oréal I Will! to create “border nails”.
Blog (you’re here!) / Facebook
April Boulware Day 1 entry:
My favorite color is pink, this pink is by kleancolor.
DreamyMM Nails & Make Up Day 1 entry:
Hard for me to choose as there is lots of colours I like… but most of all I love Black Colour, which I used for the flames of my design “Games with Flames”.  The design is made by using marbling effect (without water) with the following nail polish colours:
NYC In A New York Color Minute Nail Polish Yellow No.294, Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro Black Satin No.430, Revlon Matte Suede Fire Fox No.507, Beauty UK Salon Professional Soft White No.56.

Erin Fleming Day 1 entry:
My favourite colour is PURPLE!
I did a base coat of Zoya Mimi, then stamped with NOPI Light My Candle using BM 314.

Blog
Lustrous Lacquer Day 1 entry:
Now I don’t actually have a favorite color but I tend to be drawn to pinks when it comes to my polish. This is 2 coats of Sinful Colors Nail Polish Star Fish with Random pink stripers with a white thrown in to make it feel lighter.
Muffin Nails Day 1 entry:
(paraphrasing from her blog post)
My favourite colour is orange but because I don’t have an an orange polish I picked my favourite polish colour, which is OPI Cajun Shrimp. I then chose pinks and reds to combine with it in my design. Colours I used are Essie – Sand Trapez, Sinful Colors – Gogo Girl, OPI – Sparrow Me the Drama, Sinful Colors – Boom Boom, OPI – Cajun Shrimp and OPI – Steady as she Rose.
Painted Nubbs Day 1 entry:
My favorite colors are light purple and mint, a girl can’t choose just one! So, I used two of my favorite polishes: Lacey Lilac and Mint Sorbet both by Sally Hansen, and added some stripes with Pure Ice Superstar. I’m still pretty new to stamping so forgive my sloppiness.
FingerFood Nails Day 1 entry:
My favourite colour is Color Club Velvet Rope which I’ve used to create apples. Base colour is Sally Hansen Time to Shine, with Revlon Sassy and Models Own Black and White nail art pens.
Sandra Bickel Day 1 entry:
I call this combo “Goldstone”. I used Essie – Angora Cardi and OPI – Text Me – Text You.

Partly Cloudy With a Chance of Lacquer Day 1 entry:
My favorite color is Zoya Lana, which I used as the base color here and added the swoopy designs with a black Art Deco striper polish.
See Jodi Polish Day 1 entry:
Favorite color…is sadly Black but my second is pinky/purple, so this is Quo by Orly Purple Daydream, and Wet n Wild black creme stamped over Julep’s Kate.
Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 1 entry:
Favorite color: Purple! I have a base of China Glaze Stone Cold with Claire’s Night Sky. Then I did stripes of my favorite polish I own, Color Club Fashion Addict, which is also my favorite color, purple!
Amber Nolan Day 1 entry:
I used Julep Sandra and for the accent nail I used Sandra, Morgan, and Brooke.
No Naked Nails Day 1 entry:
I am in love with the Wet-N-Wild Megalast polishes with the flat ‘pro’ brushes! They are great creme polishes. I used three on this one. ‘On A Trip’ is the purple, ‘Through The Grapevine’ is the pink color and ‘I Need A Refresh-mint’ is the blue/green color.

Samantha Dobbs Day 1 entry:
I couldn’t decide between orange and pink so I did both 🙂

10 Day Challenge — Introduction

(In Effie Trinket voice) Welcome!  Welcome!
Today is the first day of my 10-Day Nail Art Challenge and I want to send out a warm hello to all the participants as well as all the spectators.  I hope that this Nail Art Challenge is fun for everyone, and that everyone learns lots about nail art techniques.  This challenge is not about out-doing the other participants, it is simply for everyone to show off their skills with nail polish.
All rules are posted here, so make sure you check them out!

If there are any questions or concerns about this Challenge, please either e-mail me, comment below, or send me a private message on Facebook.
As this is the first day of the Challenge, I don’t have any entries yet, so I will post the entries for Day 1 tomorrow, Day 2 on Monday, etc., until we have completed all of the days!  All entries will also be posted in the photo albums as I receive them on my Facebook Page for everyone to see!
Participants who are also bloggers are welcome to post their entries on their own blogs, but if you could please reference back to my blog in your posts that would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure to include all blog and/or Facebook Page information as well as what you used to create your design with your entries so I can include them with your entries both on the blog and in the photo albums on the Facebook page.

HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!

Erica’s Nails and More Nail Art Challenge #1

So for this nail art challenge, I did some looking around in the online nail polish world to see what kind of challenges are out there, maybe there was one that already existed that I would want to give a try.  Not finding anything where I wanted to try everything on the list, I decided to come up with my own by taking ideas from other challenges and making one that I thought everyone would enjoy.  I also wanted to start off with only 10 days rather than a 31 day challenge, because 31 days can seem like they take forever to get through.  I tried to come up with a list of fairly simple nail art designs so that everyone can participate, no matter what skill level you may have, and in hopes that everyone who participates can use what they have and not have to run off to the store for each day because they require something in order to keep up with the challenge 🙂  If there are any questions about any of the days, please let me know.  I have also put up example pictures for each day so everyone has something to reference during the challenge.  There are a few ladies out there with great tutorials for all of the nail art designs I have included, so when in doubt, search Google or YouTube! 😀
RULES
1.  You must be a fan of/like my Facebook page.
2.  Use your imagination to complete each day.  Try to incorporate some sort of nail art into each day.  Example — for “favourite colour”, try not to just paint your nails a solid colour, try to incorporate a little “flair” into it 🙂
3.  Submit your entry by either posting it onto the Facebook page or e-mail it to me at ericamccabe28@gmail.com.  I will be keeping track of all participants to make sure I get an entry from everyone each day.  I will post them into photo albums on Facebook as well as include them in blog posts (with permission from everyone of course), so make sure to include what you used in your design and your blog or Facebook page information if you have it so I can include it with the picture 🙂  Please try to submit your entry before 11:59pm EST for each day of the challenge.  I will post the day’s photos on the blog the following day.
4.  The work must be your own and on your own nails, you may use fingers or toes.  Please include at least 4 fingers or toes in your photos 🙂
5.  You may use any type of polish or paint to create your design.  Nail stickers (except full-nail designs like Sally Hansen’s Salon effects nail polish strips), nail stamping, loose glitter, rhinestones and/or other small 3D nail art add-ons are perfectly acceptable.  If you are unsure about something, let me know 🙂
6.  Start date:  Saturday, September 15.  End Date:  Monday, September 24.  I want to give everyone as much time as I can so that new people finding the Facebook page and blog are able to join in.  Make sure to invite your friends to like the Facebook page and join in on the fun!
7.  For the last day, you may recreate any of the other 9 days of nail art, whether it’s because it was your favourite one to do or it was one that you wanted to “do over”.  You may also choose to replicate another participant’s entry from one of the other days, if you do this, please include who’s entry you replicated with your entry (just an “I really liked ‘s entry from Day 3, this is my attempt at it” kind of note) 🙂  Also, for day 10, I may do a Facebook vote for the favourite day 10 entry and have a little prize for the entry with the most “likes”.  I will let you guys know what I decide before the challenge starts.  This will also depend on the number of participants.
8.  Please comment below if you will be participating so I have an idea on number of participants 🙂
9.  *The most important rule*… HAVE FUN! 😀  This challenge is not about “who is the best”, it’s about showing off the talent you have 😀

Examples:

Day 1 — favourite colour
Either paint a base colour with your favourite colour or create nail art with your favourite colour.  Make sure to let us know what your favourite polish is (brand and name).
Day 2 — favourite animal
Show us your favourite animal on your nails and tell us why it’s your favourite 🙂  It’s like Show-and-Tell! 😀
Photo Courtesy of Mary at Swatch and Learn

Day 3 — favourite season
This can be either seasons (spring, summer, fall, winter) or holidays (Christmas, Easter, Hallowe’en, etc.).

Day 4 — seran wrap nails
This is a fairly simple technique.  Simply paint your nails a colour.  With one or more other colours, simply put a drop on a paper plate/piece of tinfoil, scrunch up a piece of seran/plastic wrap and dip into your drop of polish.  Dab onto your plate or foil to take off excess polish and sponge onto your nails.  You can search Google for tutorials.
Day 5 — gradient nails
There any many different methods for this, use whichever method works best for you!  Check out Google for all the different ways to accomplish gradient nails 🙂  For this picture (my first attempt) I used an eyeshadow brush to apply each colour.  It didn’t turn out quite how I wanted but I still liked the effect 😀
Day 6 — polka dots
Use dotting tools, toothpicks, ball point pens, needles/pins, stamping, etc. to create a dotticure!

Day 7 — flowers

Create flowers in whichever way you find easiest!  I used nail art stickers for these as I wanted to use them up!  Use dotting tools, toothpicks, needles/pins, brushes, stamping — whatever you are comfy with 😀
Day 8 — galaxy nails
These are fairly simple to execute and look great no matter what!  Check out Google for great tutorials!

Day 9 — French tip variant
Put a spin on the Classic French Manicure with polka dots, lines, stamping, etc. — use your imagination!

31 Day Challenge – Completed May 16 2012

Hey girlies!
So I mentioned in my post yesterday that I would try to have some sort of post made up to post for today as I will be “MIA” for the weekend as Tyler and I are north-bound for camping for the Civic Holiday long weekend 🙂
I thought I would post about my first real glimpse into the nail art world 🙂  Brittnie over at Painting Outside the Lines (the first nail art page I became a fan of on Facebook) hosted a 31-Day Nail Art Challenge for her Facebook fans beginning on April 17 and ending on May 16.  I was really on the fence about participating because I didn’t know if I could do it, I didn’t know if I would have time to change my nail polish every day.  I decided to jump in with both feet and do it, and I’m SO glad I did! 😀  I learned so much from this Challenge, and this is the reason I’m so addicted to nail art now 😉
Check out my entries:

So what was the criteria?  The pictures follow the order of the Challenge, left to right, top to bottom.

Day 31 — Re-create your favourite challenge! (I picked half moons because my original one didn’t turn out quite the way I wanted it to)

All the ones that are starred (*) are my very first attempts of that particular nail art style 🙂
My all-time favourite of all these designs is definitely my Twilight nails (day 24).  I am a Twi-hard, so when these nails turned out like they did I was jumping for joy (in my head anyways, lol) and was so proud of myself! 😀
All designs are done with a toothpick and nail polish from my own collection.  I did use some striper polishes and nail stamping for a few of them.

I improved my nail art techniques so much with this Challenge and I had so much fun completing it!  Everyone that completed the Challenge got a little prize from Brittnie 🙂  There were also a vote for the “most liked” design for Day 31.  This person received a larger prize, but it wasn’t me, lol!  That’s ok though, I wasn’t in it for the prizes, I was in it for the fun of it, and all the learning I was going to do 😀

French Nail Tip Guides, Roll of Red Sparkly Striping Tape, 2 Nail Wheels, 2 Fimo Sticks, White Flower Nail Stickers
(the 2 polishes I purchased when she had a polish sale in the middle of the Challenge, so she sent it all together)

If you have any questions about what colours I used either comment below or send me an e-mail (ericamccabe28@gmail.com).  I figured the post was long enough without going into that much detail 😉

That’s it for me until probably Monday, so have a great weekend everyone!
