Nail-aween Nail Art Challenge Day 3

Hey everybody!  Happy Thanksgiving Monday to all my Canadian readers!  I hope everyone had a delicious weekend 😀  I had 2 turkey dinners and forgot to wear my stretchy pants to both 😦
I have for you today my Day 3 for SassyNails/datyorkLOVES Nail-aween Nail Art Challenge.  Today’s Challenge is Bloody Nails.  I have been wanting to try nails like this for a little while now, though I did it different than people normally do.  Rather than putting a dot of polish and connecting it to a “French tip” I just painted lines of polish with the polish brush and connected them to a “French tip”, see how that’s slightly different?!  😀

I used Julep Alyson as my base colour then topped it off with Essie Matte About You top coat.  Then for the “blood” I used a no-name dark red polish that came in one of those make-up kits you can get around Christmas time.  I thought it was a perfect blood-red colour 🙂  I top-coated that with quick dry top coat to make it look really shiny, like fresh blood 🙂
I think this looks pretty sweet and very Hallowe’en-y 😀
Here is the rest of the Challenge, this is so much fun!

Tip Top Nails I Love Nails

Good morning everyone!  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far!  The preparations for Thanksgiving dinner have begun!  Mmmmmm!  Can’t wait for dinnertime 😀
Tip Top Nails South Africa has a “Challenge”, I guess you could call it, every week.  Joan changes it up and has a different theme every week.  This week’s theme is “Inspired by Breast Cancer Awareness”.  This week, we had the option to either paint our nails a solid pink if you aren’t comfortable with nail art, or you could paint the pink ribbon in your design.
I decided to do the ribbon and some water marbling (be prepared, water marbling is going to be a common thing around here!).  This is what I came up with.

I absolutely LOVE the way this came out!  It looks so girly and makes me SO happy to look at it 😀
The colours I used are:
  • L’Oréal I Will! white base colour on all nails.  I need a new white, does anyone have one they recommend?  I have seen that Milani White is really good (can’t think of the name of it right now) but I don’t know where to access it in Canada.  I live about an hour from anywhere that has a chain beauty supply store.
  • Avon Cotton Candy, Viva Pink and Fuchsia for the marbling.  I was inspired for this design by this tutorial.
  • Then for the Breast Cancer ribbon, I used a small paintbrush and Cotton Candy, then a toothpick and Viva Pink to create the outline.

I hope everyone likes this design, I’m pretty proud of it 😀

Nail-aween Nail Art Challenge Day 2

Good morning ladies!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend planned 🙂  To all my Canadian readers, Happy Thanksgiving (aka Happy Turkey Weekend)!  I LOVE turkey dinner, it comes a close second to any pasta dish for me.  I can sit and stuff my face till I’m busting at the seams and still manage to get in a piece of dessert, whether it’s Grandma’s homemade apple pie or my homemade cheesecake (which I will be baking later today for Tyler’s mom’s dinner tomorrow), lol!  What is everyone’s favourite part about Thanksgiving?
I have for you today my Day 2 design for the Nail-aween Nail Art Challenge hosted by SassyNails/datyorkLOVES.  Today’s Challenge is Matte Dotticure.  A couple months ago I got myself Essie’s Matte About You top coat.  I really love the look of matte polish.  There is something about it that makes me think it will feel like velvet when I touch it 🙂  And we all know how much I love dotticures 😀

For this design I used Julep Parker which is a true orange.  If you are looking for a true orange, I would recommend this one.  I topped it off with the Essie Matte About You top coat to soften it, I really loved this on it’s own.  Then I used Jordana Black for the dots.  I did not apply a top coat to this design as that would take away from the matte-ness of the orange.
And, as you can see, I snuck in a little water marble in there! 😉  First off, I meant to do my ring finger.  I did my chapsticking to my finger, got it in the water, pulled it out and went “awww man!  Wrong finger!”  But I made it work 🙂  I left my fingernail painted Parker with the Matte About You top coat and for the marble I used Jordana Black and Matte About You top coat  (that’s why you can see Parker between the black).  It came out glossier over the orange than I had pictured in my head, but the effect is still slightly there.  Then to tie in the dotticure part of today’s Challenge, I took an unfolded paperclip and used the end to dot on Parker onto the black portion of the marble.
I am soooooo proud of this manicure.  I love it so much! 😀
Here is what the rest of the Challenge looks like:

If you want to join us, you still can!  Make sure to sign up on the Facebook Event page before OCTOBER 10.  You have until October 31st to complete the entire 10 days of the Challenge.

Nail-aween Nail Art Challenge Day 1

Hello lovely ladies!  I decided, after some major figuring out and planning, that I am going to start my designs for the Nail-aween Nail Art Challenge  hosted by SassyNails/datyorkLOVES.  I was going to do them every 3rd day of October, but with the couple other Challenges I have thrown into the mix, that isn’t going to work, so it’s going to be random posting, lol!
The Challenge for Day 1 is Water Marble.  I LOVE me some water marble nail art!  I have been wanting to do a water marble for a while now and just haven’t been able to make the time.  It’s like this Challenge was reading my mind!  You wanna talk about SPOOKY!  ;D

I love this colour combination.  I was going to do water marbling on my 4 fingers and a jack-o-lantern face on my thumb but my sister told me “no, that would ruin it” so I did my thumb as well.  My favourite nails are my index and middle 🙂
The colours I used are:
LA Colors Shock base colour
LA Colors Shock, Julep Mystery Yellow and Zoe, and Jordana Black for water marble
I will definitely try this colour combination again!  It looks so bold with the fall/Hallowe’en colours 😀

Here is what the whole Challenge looks like:
If you still want to participate you can, make sure to sign up before OCTOBER 10.  You can sign up on the Facebook Event page, and all the details are there as well.

Don’t forget to check out what all the other participants of this Nail-aween Nail Art Challenge are up to!

10 Day Challenge — Day 10 (we made it!)

Well, ladies, WE DID IT!  We have completed the 10-Day Nail Art Challenge!  Congratulations to all that were able to complete all 10 days.  It was hard work to have to change your nails every day, I know, but I’m so glad you all stuck it out with me! 😀
For Day 10, the theme is “recreate your favourite”.  For this, participants were able to recreate their favourite design of the other 9 days of the Challenge.  They could either re-do one of their own designs that they loved, re-do one that they wanted to do-over if they didn’t like the first attempt, or they could recreate another participant’s design from any of the 9 days.  Sometimes with a day like this in a Challenge, it’s hard to just pick one to do 🙂
Let’s go look at all the final entries!

Erica’s Nails and More Day 10 entry (all votes for this will not count, I’m not going to give myself a prize 😉 )
I decided to redo my gradient, but with my favourite colour. I used Julep Renee as my base colour and sponged on Julep Charlotte for my gradient. Then, I wanted to do some stamping as you ladies did some great stamping, and when I saw the butterfly (another of my favourite animal) I knew I had to do it. So there you have it, I wrapped up 3 in 1.. Day 1 (favourite colour), Day 2 (favourite animal) and Day 5 (gradient) all in one 😀

Blog (you’re here!) / Facebook

April Boulware Day 10 entry:
I redid the flowers challenge. I used Pure Ice Superstar as the base, the purple is Sinful Colors Let’s Talk, the pink is Tip Top Pink Lady, and the green is Pure Ice Wild Thing.

dreamyMM Nails & Make Up Day 10 entry:
So the amazing 10 days of Erica’s challenge has come to the last day. It was a great pleasure for me to participate as it was my first time ever…
My creation today “Spring Sunset Tiger” has a little bit of many days and that is because I couldn’t choose just one day to recreate…
Day 1 “Favourite Colour” (Black)
Day 2 “Favourite Animal” (Tiger)

Day 3 “Favourite Season” (Spring)
Day 5 “Gradient” (Is the Technic I used for my background)
Day 6 “Polka Dots” (The centre of my flowers)
Day 7 “Flowers” (Cherry Blossom and Bonsai)
I used White Nail Polish as Base and all the nail art is made with Acrylic Paint Colours.

Erin Fleming Day 10 entry:
When I heard recreate your favourite, I thought immediately of Partly Cloudy’s fall mani with the the braided accent finger. I used A-England’s St. George, Princess Sabra and Tristam.
Thanks so much for hosting us Erica!

Lustrous Lacquer Day 10 entry:
For day 10 of the challenge we got to recreate our favorite Manicure. For me it was my Seran Wrap Mani. It was the one Id done that I least wanted to remove. I loved the way the colors felt so completely Fall like and vampy. I was surprised that I liked it so much since Im not normally a dark nail color fan. For my recreation I wanted to go for the same feel but with different colors. I used a base color of Zoya Fei Fei. Then I added Milani Hot Orchid. It was looking a little too pink and shiny for me so I then added Revlon French Roast and topped the whole thing off with a coat of Sech Vite. A big thanks to Erica’s Nails and More for putting this challenge together. I had a ton of fun. And Congrats to all the Ladies who completed it with me. =)

Muffin Nails Day 10 entry:
Here it is! my design for the favorite season day really flopped, and I just had to try it again. Instead of doing trees this time, I did one tree on an island in the middle of an ocean. I know that this looks more like a summery scene, but I thought that the sunset kind of makes you think about the end of summer, when it transforms into autumn, which is my favorite part of the year. I hope you like it!

Painted Nubbs Day 10 entry:
I redid day 3 but with a twist. I chose my second favorite holiday, Halloween, and did a water marble. I used Zoya Arizona, Tip Top Black Forest, and LA Colors Live. This is only my third time doing this.

FingerFood Nails Day 10 entry:
Final day and I’m really sad that its over!!! I’ve had so much fun with this – thanks for all the work you’ve put in 🙂
I’ve been wanting to do this kind of mani the whole way though as its one of my current favourites. I didn’t know whether to use it to show off my fave colours at the beginning, or for the tie dye feel of summer on season day, or for the French tip variant, or for a twist on the gradient!!! So I saved it for today 😉 I used Rimmel Sunshine, Revlon Siren and Sassy and Models Own Feeling Blue and Lilac Dream, and Nail Essentials Classic Pink.

Sandra Bickel Day 10 entry:
I combined my three favorite into one terrific set of nails: flower, dots and spring time. I used Sinful Colors Innocent, Ruby Ruby and Snow me White, OPI Louvre me, Louvre Me Not.

Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Lacquer Day 10 entry:
For my Day 10 manicure, I used Amber Nolan’s Day 6 polka dot manicure as inspiration! I love how classy it is and her color choices! For my manicure I used a dark grey sparkly unnamed polish from elf (2F01AS on the label) as the base and then added silver dots with a dotting tool using LA Colors Live. Thank you so much Erica for hosting this awesome challenge! It’s been a lot of fun!

All good things must come to an end I suppose. I decided to re-try a french tip variant for my last submission as I wasnt 100% happy with my original entry. The polishes I used for this mani are L’Oréal’s French Tip White (I thought it was appropriate), Julep’s Daisy and Leah, and essence Walk on Air and Ultimate pink. This was my first time doing a paint drip manicure. I hope you like it!

Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 10 entry:
I re-did yesterday’s French Tip variant using the same concept I did, with different colors! My base is China Glaze Four Leaf Clover. I then used CG Lightning Bolt crackle for the tips and accent. HOWEVER, since I didn’t use topcoat before I crackled, the white absorbed some of the green! I did a final topper of Zoya Maisie, because you can never go wrong with a little glitz 😀

10 Day Challenge — Day 9

Happy Monday everyone!  Wow, where has the time gone!  Can you believe that this is the LAST DAY for the Challenge?  Craziness I tell ya!
Here are all the entries for Day 9.  The theme is French tip variant.  Everyone knows what the French tip manicure is, so I thought it would be kinda cool to put a little twist on it and do French tips that are a little “our of the ordinary” or “outside the box”.  I’m really impressed with what everyone came up with!
Let’s take a look 😀

Erica’s Nails and More Day 9 entry:
I love French tips, no matter what the colour combination! For this I used Julep Lynn as my base colour (light pink). Then swiped Julep Sandra on an angle from the right side of my nail down to the centre, then swiped Julep Marisa from the left side of my nail down to the centre.
Blog (you’re here!) / Facebook
April Boulware Day 9 entry:
TipTop Black Forest, thumb Zoya Whitney, pointer NYC Water St Blue, middle Zoya Sookie, ring Zoya Malia and pinky Pure Ice Wild Thing.
dreamyMM Nails & Make Up Day 9 entry:
With French Manicure I believe less is more… Am a big fan of the original plain white with semi-sheer white one, but today I made a different version because am in this Red alert mood LoL Used Revlon Matte Sued, Fire Fox No.507 and Black from Technic Nail Art Polishes.
Erin Fleming Day 9 entry:
Ugh – total chevron nail fail. My tape wasn’t as flat as I thought it was I guess. I used Enchanted Polish Ocean Potion and Awesomeness.
Lustrous Lacquer Day 9 entry:
I did this super quickly today in about 15 mnutes. Base color is Loreal Tweet Me, tips are done in Sinful Colors Pink Forever. The dots are Milani White on the Spot and the lines are a white striper from Kiss. I like how loud and fun this is.
Muffin Nails Day 9 entry:
I was actually really stumped for this one, so I used the trick that always works: add glitter. The red is Sinful Colors Gogo Girl, and the wonderful glitter is China Glaze Electrify.
Painted Nubbs Day 9 entry:
I had no inspiration as for what to do, so I just went with dots. But, I think it’s cute and really simple. The base is Zoya Wednesday and the dots are Zoya Arizona.
FingerFood Nails Day 9 entry:
Today was really tricky for me as I’m not a fan of French manis! Think its because I’ve done so many over the years!!! Anyway, this is as close as I allow myself to get 😉 I used Rimmel Jet Black and Color Club Oooooo La La and Electro Candy.
Sandra Bickel Day 9 entry:
Wet n Wild Megalast I Need A Refresh-Mint, Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Gem stickers from KISS.
Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Lacquer Day 9 entry:
My french tip variant is Orange and Blue! I used Sinful Colors Midnight Blue for the base and Zoya Myrta for the tips and dots. I’m a HUGE Florida Gators fan, and I do an Orange and Blue mani each weekend during football season, so this also served as this weekend’s manicure.
See Jodi Polish Day 9 entry:
For this french tip variant I decided to honor my Husbands love for the New England Patriots. I started with a base coat of just base coat and then sponged the tips. Blue is done with China Glaze Dorothy Who? and then along the very tip I used Cult Nails Living Water. The red is done with NYC Broadway Burgundy Frost and along the very tip is China Glaze Lubu Heels.
The white accent nail is Julep’s Kate (of course) and the awesome glitter is Lacquer Conventions Mondrian. I then topped it all off with China Glaze Fairy Dust. I know this is sort if in between a gradient and a french tip variant but I wanted to do something non-traditional.

Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 9 entry:
I had a lot of ideas for this day, and may do my redo for tomorrow and try another one :-). But for this evening I did Sinful Colors Cinderella and free-handed OPI Pink shatter tips (I LURVE the shatter tips!).
Amber Nolan Day 9 entry:
Im really loving this simple mani! Pure Ice Jamaica Me Crazy with black & silver glitter nail art on the tips.
No Naked Nails Day 9 entry:
Hard to believe this challenge is almost over!! Heres my entry, I used WnW Club Havanah and LA Colors Energy Source (white) I actually was doing this to wear to work to support my football team, TN Vols. I am really happy with how it turned out 🙂

10 Day Challenge — Day 8

Wow, where has the last week gone!  We are at day 8 of the Challenge, and the theme for Day 8 is Galaxy nails!  I think, besides dotticures, Galaxy nail art is my favourite type of nail art.  It doesn’t matter if you are beginner, intermediate or advanced, everyone can master this design!

When I did my 31 Day Challenge back in the spring, I had never heard of Galaxy nails, so I had to look it up.  When I Googled it, it took me to cutepolish’s tutorial video and that is how I learned to do them 🙂

Let’s take a trip into space!

Erica’s Nails and More Day 8 entry:
I LOVE galaxy nails! They are so super easy and look fabulous every time! It doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner or advance, everyone can master this nail art design! For this I used Jordana Black as my base colour. Then I sponged on L’Oréal I Will! and Mango-Get-Em, and Julep Daisy for my galaxies. Then I used NYC In a New York Minute Pier 17 around the outer edge of the galaxies to blend the colours into the black background. Topped off with Jordana Crystal Glitter to give the appearance if millions of stars 😀
Blog (you’re here!) / Facebook
April Boulware Day 8 entry:
For me, these were the hardest. Weird seeing as everyone else thinks that they’re the easiest. I used Tip Top Black Forest, Pure Ice Superstar, WnW How I Met Your Magenta, Sally Hansen Blue Me Away, and OPI Gone Gonzo.
dreamyMM Nails & Make Up Day 8 entry:
Today wasn’t a very creative day for me… But I did my best to make something and have an entry… Is funny as had loads of different idea’s how to make my Galaxy nails… Any ways things never work as planned LoL… What I used? Many different colours of nail polish and a sponge…
Erin Fleming Day 8 entry:

These were seriously so much fun to do! I think I went sponge overboard though, hehe.

I started with a base of Zoya Ibiza. I sponged China Glaze Bahamian Escape, Zoya Fei Fei and Zoya Laney. I did the ‘stars’ with SH White On. I then capped it off with a layer of China Glaze Fairy Dust! That’s a lot of polish!

Lustrous Lacquer Day 8 entry:
This one is a day late but I still wanted to share it with you.  Day 8 is Galaxy nails.  I can’t believe I waited so long to try this.  It was pretty easy considering I threw this together in about 10 minutes.  I used a no name E.L.F. polish for the base.  A black sparkley colour with #2F01AS on the label.  Sponged on some Milani White on the Spot (my go to white), L’Oréal Tweet Me, Orly Glits for highlight, Sinful Colors Pink Forever and finally Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Blue It.

Muffin Nails Day 8 entry:
Galaxy nails! I found these really funny because they’d been the design I was most worried about attempting, but they were the easiest ones I’ve done all week! They’re just unbelievably fun to paint. I used the tutorial by Cutepolish (http://tinyurl.com/3t8uklu) as a guide, and then made a few changes to suite my tastes. Overall this has been my favorite design so far and I’m going to be so upset when I have to take them off tomorrow!
Painted Nubbs Day 8 entry:
I wanted to do something different than the traditional black background, so I went with blue/green themed. I think it’s pretty good for my first try. The base is WnW Teal of Fortune, and the other colors are Zoya Song, CG Bahamian Escape, Pure Ice Wild Thing, Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet, and Pure Ice Superstar, all topped with a coat of Pure Ice Don’t You Wish. *I wish my stars were a little smaller*
FingerFood Nails Day 8 entry:
Galaxy manis are one of my favourites – I love trying different colours every time. This time I started with LA Colors Black Velvet, then added Models Own Snow White and Sun Kissed, Collection 2000 Hip Hop, Jessica Electric Teal, LA Colors Wired and Sally Hansen Twinkle Twinkle for the sparkle 🙂
Sandra Bickel Day 8 entry:
Ok, I had to do this one several times as a test before I got the right tools together to help me. I am still not *completely* satisfied…would be a lot easier with dotting tools that with just a brush. I used OPI DS Fantasy, Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Let’s Meet, and Sally Hansen Delightful Dawn.
Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Lacquer Day 8 entry:
These were my first galaxy nails, and though they aren’t perfect, I like the technique and look forward to trying it again. I started with LA Colors Circuits, then sponged on LA Colors Energy Source, Pure Ice Crimson, Pure Ice Celestial, and Sinful Colors San Francisco. I then used a dotting tool to add the stars and finished with Spoiled Shaken Snow Globe.

See Jodi Polish Day 8 entry:
Blog / Facebook

Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 8 entry:
This was just too much fun, and I even got to use space themed polishes! I started with a base of Spoiled The Parking Meteor Expired. Sponged on some Sally Hansen White On, then Sally Hansen HD Laser. The finishing touch was the highly appropriate Claire’s Night Sky 🙂
Amber Nolan Day 8 entry:
I finally got this right! I used Hard Candy Wicked for the base. Then sponged on Pure Ice Super Star, then Hard Candy Beetle, and Sinful Colors Kissy. I love the way this mani turned out!!
No Naked Nails Day 8 entry:
I was excited about this one since I have never done galaxy nails before! It was a lot easier than I thought it would be! The trick is just barely having any polish on the sponge, gives you a lot more control over where it goes and how much goes on. I love how it turned out. I will definitely be doing this one again. I used LA Colors Circuits (black) and Energy Source (white), Revlon Temptress (pink), Sally Hansen Green With Envy, Pure Ice Busted (purple) and white striping polish.

(Missing Samantha Dobbs entry 😦 )

10 Day Challenge — Day 7

We’re already at Day 7!  Wow, time sure flies when you are having fun!!  Day 7’s theme was flowers and there are some pretty great designs!
Erica’s Nails and More Day 7 entry:
I decided to try daisy nails for today.  My inspiration came from Painting Outside the Lines Daisy Nails tutorial.  I used Julep Whitney for my base colour and did the daisies using L’Oréal I Will! and Julep Daisy for the centres (fitting, right?!).
Blog (you’re here!) / Facebook

Aprill Boulware Day 7 entry:
The base is Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac and the flowers are just nail stickers.  I think they are very cute.
dreamyMM Nails and Make Up Day 7 entry:
Since yesterday I didn’t make vintage Polka Dots, thought giving a try to make today ‘Vintage Purple Roses’.  For today’s design, I used Nail Polish ONLY surprising even for me cause I love drawing in Acrylic Paint.  The Polishes are: Collection 200 Hot Looks ‘Hoola Hoop’ #34 and ‘Technic Nail Art Polishes’ which are amazing because they have a very thin long brush and helps to make straight lines.
Erin Fleming Day 7 entry:
I used Essie Blanc, Color Club Wild and Heart and BM 205.  Sorry for my thumbnail…it’s broken 😦
Lustrous Lacquer Day 7 entry:
I originally planned on doing just plain old dotted flowers because I’m half decent at those.  But I wanted to push myself and try something different.  To be honest I went to bed last night planning out this mani and picturing myself doing it in my head just to help build my confidence.  I’ve watched so many videos on the one stroke flower and I’ve wanted to try it for a long time now.  And the more I look at this mani the more I like it and am happy with my first attempt.  Especially the flower at the tip of my thumb there. 😉  Base coat is Zoya Megan.  Flowers are done with L’Oréal Tweet Me and Milani White on the Spot.  The centres are Sinful Colors Happy Ending.

Muffin Nails Day 7 entry:
Here are my flowers!  I tried to step out of my comfort zone a bit and do something other than the usual dotted flowers.  There are a few mistakes and things I would do differently, but in general, I like how it worked out.  I used Sinful Colors Boom Boom (this is like, the fifth time I’ve used this color this week), OPI Steady as She Rose, Sally Hansen Black Heart and Lightening, and Essie Navigate Her.
Painted Nubbs Day 7 entry:
These are my favorite so far!  Very simple and my stamping has greatly improved.  The base is LA Colors Magnetic Force, the stamping is done with Pure Ice Superstar and the centre is LA Colors Aqua Crystals.
FingerFood Nails Day 7 entry:
I used LA colors Current as a base and Black Velvet for the branches, with Models Own Snow White and Color Club She’s Sooo Glam for the cherry blossom flowers.  Apologies for the photo quality – I took it at work when I had the office to myself for a minute…
Sandra Bickel Day 7 entry:
Used: China Glaze Mahogany Magic, Naked (new one from the Breast Cancer set-Yum!) and I Herd That, Sinful Colors Snow Me White and white flower decals courtesy of KISS nails.  Sorry, not quite brave enough to attempt real painted flowers nor am I ready to trust the stamper just yet…
Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Lacquer Day 7 entry:
This is actually the first time I’ve attempted flowers…and I think these qualify as fail art!  They look like little pink sunny-side-up eggs.  I used LA Colors Atomic as the base colour, and used LA Colors Art Deco polishes in Baby Pink and Yellow and a dotting tool to make the flowers.
See Jodi Polish Day 7 entry:
I used a dotting tool for the flowers, base colour is NYC Times Square Tangerine Creme, yellow petals are Joe Fresh in Butter, the centre is Jessica Glamorous Gladiator and I sponged Wet n Wild Hallucination on the tips for some sparkle.
Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 7 entry:
I had a had time stamping this, the ones I wanted weren’t coming out right, because I’m stubborn and insisted on a little holo (if I would have just switched to my favorite polka dot flower, I would have been good to go!).  In the end I got one to work, I used Color Club Rvvvolution, Sally Hansen Celeb City, and plate SE18.
Amber Nolan Day 7 entry:
Nothing fancy, but still super cute!  I used Pure Ice Jamaica Me Crazy, Essie Jelly Apple, Hard Candy Beetle, and Julep Demi for the flowers.  Pure Ice Superstar and Wet n Wild The Wonder Yellows were used for the details 🙂
No Naked Nails Day 7 entry:
Colors I used:  Sally Hansen Green with Envy, LA Colors Energy Source (white) and Shock (yellow), and dark green striping polish.
Samantha Dobbs Day 7 entry:

10 Day Challenge — Day 6

Who doesn’t love a dotticure?  I think this is one of my favourite type of nail art because it’s so easy and there are so many combinations!  And that’s what Day 6 is all about 😀
Let’s check out all the entries 🙂

Erica’s Nails and More Day 6 entry:
I have wanted to try this look since I did my first double polka dot manicure. I used Jordana Black, L’Oréal I Will!, China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and Under the Boardwalk, Essie Mezmerize and a couple dots of Julep Hayden. I love this and will definitely be sporting this more often 😉
Blog (you’re here!) / Facebook
April Boulware Day 6 entry:
The base is Zoya Song and the silver is Essie No Place Like Chrome.
dreamyMM Nails & Make Up Day 6 entry:
Everything in this world starts and ends with a DOT…DOT…DOT
So, today I am inspired by my Brother who is a Chemical Engineer… (Love you John) and instead of making what I first had in mind “Vintage Polka Dots” (I will make it some other day) I made my… “Chemical Nails” with White Nail Polish as Base and Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Mint, Orange, Black and White Acrylic Paint Colours.
Erin Fleming Day 6 entry:
Turns out I’ve committed nail art fraud! I don’t possess a dotting tool! So I stamped my dots using a Konad plate…..
I used a base of Zoya Myrta and the dots are A-England Tristam. It’s too bad Tristam wasn’t more opaque, but I do like the end result!
Lustrous Lacquer Day 6 entry:
This didnt turn out exactly how I wanted it to but I still like it. I originally wanted the dots to look like they curved towards the sides of my nails but practice makes perfect I guess. I was going for a fall feel with my colors. I used Sinful Colors Slate as my base coat and then added dots from China Glaze Foie Gras, Desert Sun, Camisole and, Kalahari Kiss.
Muffin Nails Day 6 entry:
Here are my polka dots! I decided to incorporate my favorite colors (yet again) to make this design. I used Sinful Colors Boom Boom, Essie Mojito Madness, and Sally Hansen Sun Kissed, as well as Essie Sand Trapez for the tan base. I tried to switch things up and make little rings instead of normal polka dots, as well as placing them on the nail randomly.
Painted Nubbs Day 6 entry:
Not exactly what I was hoping for, but I still like it. The base is Julep Jessica (favorite light blue EVER!) and the dots are Zoya Arizona and Pure Ice Superstar.
FingerFood Nails Day 6 entry:
I like the irregular “bubbly” effect so picked up some of my favourite colours and went dotty! The base is Maybelline Lilac Frost and the dots are Color Club Pucci-licious and Yell-Oh!, Collection 2000 Electric Dreams and NYC High Line Green.
Sandra Bickel Day 6 entry:
I LOVE THIS LOOK! I needed to give my fingernails a break, so I did my toes! I hope that is okay. I think I have cute toes. 😀 I used Julep Isla for a base colour (for that touch of shimmer). Random Dots made with L.A. Color Daisy, Electra, Mint, Aquatic, Absolute, and SPAT!
Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Lacquer Day 6 entry:
My boyfriend picked out the colors for today’s polka dot manicure! I think he was trying to pick something he thought I wouldn’t like, but I actually love it! I used a LA Colors Static Electricity as the base color and then used small dotting tool to put on the pink and orange polka dots. The orange is LA Colors Tangerine and the pink is Julep Mandy.

Day 6! Wow, time sure flies when you’re having fun. I love doing dotticures… there are so many options. The polishes used for this dotticure are Pink: Island Girl’s Big Island Magic (its a gorgeous bubble gum pink), Brown: Jessica’s Glamorous Gladiator (a medium brown with fine micro gold glitter, a perfect shade for fall), and White: Julep’s Kate (my “go to” white shade).
Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 6 entry:
I wanted to go for big dots this time, so I used a q-tip for the black. It’s China Glaze CG in the City with Sally Hansen Black Out dots 😀
Amber Nolan Day 6 entry:
Polka dots! This very much reminds me of studded leather. smile I used Hard Candy Wicked for the whole nail with Julep Sienna for the dots! Love this look!

Day 6 Dot-icure……This was a quick one. Almost forgot about it!! Turned out okay though I guess. Colors I used: LA Colors Live, Wet n Wild 9021Orange, Buffy the Violet Slayer and The Wonder Yellows.

Owen wanted to help me with writing this blog this morning.  But then he got bored and decided to have a nap instead 😉

10 Day Challenge — Day 5

We’re half way through the Challenge already!?  That’s so crazy, it feels like we just got going!  It has been so much fun doing this challenge with some really wonderful ladies 🙂  I can’t wait to see what the second half of the Challenge will bring 🙂
Day 5’s theme is Gradient.  Now, I’m not going to lie, this one was tricky and I think that a lot of the girls found it frustrating, unless they have already mastered the art of creating a perfect gradient 😉  This is definitely a perfectionist’s worst nightmare, especially when you’re still working on the learning curve of the design.
Let’s take a look at all the designs 🙂

Erica’s Nails and More Day 5 entry:
Gradients… *sigh* I think I have them mastered, but it’s still going to be some time before I get them to my liking. In this I used Julep Hayden as my base colour (light peach). Then, using a kitchen sponge with the green scratchy on one side and a pair of tweezers I dabbed on Julep Sasha, a coral-orange colour from the tip to about 3/4 up my nail. Then I used Julep Natasha, a red-orange, and sponged up about 1/2 up my nail. I let that dry a little and then added another layer of Natasha at the tip (last 1/4) to darken it up.

April Boulware Day 5 entry:
China Glaze Electric Beat, Zoya Mira and Kleancolor Neon Pink…I’ve never done any nail art before this challenge, so as usual this was my first gradient.
dreamyMM Nails & Make Up Day 5 entry:
Inspired by the Rainbow I created my own Gradient of Colours! How did I make it? Simple…With a sponge and my Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Orange, Purple and Magenta Acrylic Paint colours over a base white nail polish.
Erin Fleming Day 5 entry:
I couldn’t get a gradient to look good for the life of me today, so here’s one I did a while ago – it’s Orly Skinny Dip and China Glaze Up All Night.
Lustrous Lacquer Day 5 entry:
I’m getting a little better at these but it’s still not how I want them to look. Colors are Zoya Avery, Shelby and, Arizona. I went with brighter colors becasue it’s turned quite chilly here lately and Im not ready to let go of summer yet.
Muffin Nails Day 5 entry:
The first post I ever made on my blog was a gradient, so I have a huge soft spot in my heart for them. I was so in love with the pink I used yesterday (Sinful Colors – Boom Boom) that I decided to try it out again, matched with my favorite green (Essie – Mojito Madness). And I couldn’t just leave it plain, so I added a little design on top using a white Art Deco striper.
Painted Nubbs Day 5 entry:
China Glaze For Audrey into Zoya Malia
took me days to get it this good, one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever done lol.
FingerFood Nails Day 5 entry:
Can’t believe we’re halfway through the challenge already!!! Here are my gradient nails. Unfortunately the pics didn’t pick up the colours as well as I hoped because they’re super shimmery but I have so little time today that I can’t wait till later to get better ones :/ I used Sally Hansen HD Hue, Wavelength and Byte 🙂
Sandra Bickel Day 5 entry:
So far, this one has been the most difficult for me to get right. I finally got it together somewhat and this doesn’t look too bad. I call this combo: A touch of warmth in winter…not sure why…it’s just what it looked like to me. I used OPI Significant Other Color and Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet for base colours and OPI Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not and Sally Hansen Sea Breeze for the gradient.
Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Lacquer Day 5 entry:
I used Zoya Myrta and Zoya Kimber from the Zoya Pinterest Trio for this subtle gradient.

I LOVE doing gradients, I do them all the time and I always get tons of compliments on them. This was done using the paint directly onto the make-up sponge method. I started with a base coat of Avon nailwear pro in Jade (2 coats) then I painted rows of Avon Jade, Daphne by Julep and Walk on Air by essence onto the sponge and lightly dabbed. I repeated the process on each nail twice. Then I topped it all off with NYC Starry Silver Glitter.

Sparkle and Shine Nails Day 5 entry:
I’ve done this technique three times before, and this is so far my best attempt (my gummy worm nails for my last challenge were an utter fail, and my candy corn nails were…better). I learned you need less polish on the sponge, which is how my pinky turned out so well. This is my metallic duo-chrome gradient, with Ulta Jaded as the base and China Glaze Deviantly Daring as the second color.

Amber Nolan Day 5 entry:
My gradient nails! They turned out alright. I used my 2 favorite colors again Julep Morgan & Sandra. Decided to mix it up a little and do vertical gradient and to switch the colors on my thumb. 🙂
No Naked Nails Day 5 entry:
I’m not even sure if this can be considered a gradient but its my (first and last) attempt at one. Ugh! I don’t like it at all but here it is. These are the colors I used: LA Colors Wisteria(pink), Purple Delight (purple),Circuits (black), Energy Source (white) and Cobalt (dark blue), NYC Sidewalkers (grey), and Sally Hansen Blue Me Away (light blue). I apologize in advance for any eye soreness that may occur after seeing this mani….lol
